The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in Borno State has arrested a man who allegedly defrauded hapless Internally Displaced persons, IDPs, in the state of about N27 million.

The arrested man was said to be selling fake forms to the IDPs, claiming that they wold be used in obtaining relief materials from government agencies.




     

     

    The arrest of the fraudster was announced on Tuesday in Maiduguri by the state Commandant of the NSCSC, Abdullahi Ibrahim.

    “The suspects have sold the total of 9,000 forms to the IDPs in some camps across Maiduguri at the cost of N300 each, promising them that they will be provided with special relief materials from Abuja,” Ibrahim disclosed.

    He said further that the suspect colluded with “some agents in the camps, deceived the IDPs that special relief materials will be brought to them from Abuja, after filling the forms with their passport attached.”

    While advising displaced persons in IDP camps to be vigilant and report any suspicious persons in their midst to security agencies, Ibrahim assured that the suspect will be well interrogated and subsequently handed to the appropriate authorities for prosecution.

    1. VBD Very bad guy. But if he actually duped 9000 unfortunate people of 300 naira each then the low life made 2.7m. Not 27m. Nevertheless I hope he rots in jail for it.
