The Army has confirmed the death 18 persons in killed in a Sunday bomb explosion in Mubi, Adamawa State.
The Director of Defence Information, Chris Olukolade, a Major-General, said that 19 persons were also injured and are currently receiving treatment in various hospitals.
Two suspect who were said to have been identified with the car used in conveying the explosive device were arrested by troops in the area after the incident, although one of them later died in the hospital following an injury he sustained during the attack.
Olukolade said the other is being interrogated while further investigation is ongoing.
The Adamawa Police Command initially confirmed 14 people dead and 12 others injured in the bomb blast which rocked the town of Mubi Sunday evening.
A resident of the town, who spoke to newsmen said the explosion occurred at about 6p.m. in Kabang area where there is a concentration of beer palour operators.
In the last three months, the military has imposed a 7p.m. to 5a.m. curfew on Mubi town following incessant attacks by the insurgents.
