2023: Abiola’s son wins PRP presidential ticket

KOLA Abiola to contest the 2023 presidential election as the candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) following his emergence at the party’s primary election.

The son of the late Moshood Abiola had obtained the N10 million party’s expression of interest and nomination forms last month ahead of the party’s primary.

Abiola polled 1,970 votes in total to clinch the party’s ticket, defeating a former House of Representatives member, Usman Bugaje and other contestants.

Bugaje garnered 787 votes and Patience Key, as well as Mosugu Erosimi, had 333 and 280 votes respectively.

Abiola had earlier called for a transparent party primary election as he expressed his belief in internal party democracy.

“Whoever wins, we will all come together and work for the party and not somebody calling for consensus where someone will step down for another.

“Let’s go and have a competitive environment, it will be transparent and we will uphold internal democracy and be able to have proper democracy,” he stated.
