Again, Buhari convenes National Security Council meeting

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari, on Thursday, convened a meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) at the State House in Abuja.

The meeting comes a week after a similar one, where the Council considered a total ban on motorcycles and mining activities in areas most prone to terrorist attacks.

Those at the meeting are all the service chiefs – Chief of Defence Staff Lucky Irabor; Chief of Army Staff Farouk Yahaya; Chief of Naval Staff Awwal Gambo; Chief of Air Staff Isiaka Amao and the Chief of Defense Intelligence Samuel Adebayo.

Others are Inspector-General of Police Alkali Usman; the Director-General of the Department of State Service Yusuf Bichi; and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency Ahmed Abubakar.




     

     

    Also at the meeting are: Secretary to the Government of the Federation Boss Mustapha; Chief of Staff to the President Ibrahim Gambari and the National Security Adviser Babagana Monguno.

    Cabinet members in the meeting include the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami; Minister of Interior Rauf Aregbesola; Minister of Foreign Affairs Geoffrey Onyeama; Minister of Police Affairs Mohammed Dingyadi and Minister of Defense Bashir Magashi.

    The meeting is holding amid heightened concerns over the high level of insecurity in the country.

    Schools in the Federal Capital Territory have been closed over fears of terrorist attacks.
