President Muhammadu Buhari was again absent at Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting which is currently ongoing inside the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo is again presiding over the meeting in Buhari’s stead just like he chaired the last FEC meeting before the Easter holidays, while last week’s meeting was called off.
Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, told State House correspondents two weeks ago that President Buhari was “hale and hearty” but he had other important engagements to attend to hence the decision to delegate the vice president to preside over the FEC meeting.
The President’s state of health has been a huge source of controversy in recent times, since he returned from a nearly 50-day medical trip in the United Kingdom.
Only two days Ago, the Chief Security Officer to the President, Abubakar Bashir, expelled the state house correspondent for Punch Newspaper, Olalekan Adetayo, for reporting that the President was seen in public only once throughout last week.
However, Adetayo has since been recalled even though the Punch newspaper demanded both a recall and a public apology.
