Anambra State government has concluded plans to partner with Richbon Group, an indigenous firm that deals In heavy duty trucks, construction equipment, trailers, tankers, axles and Spare parts, for the establishment of a $150 million company that will produce caterpillar and other construction equipment.
The state commissioner for lands, survey and town planning, Stella Onuora, disclosed that the project, which will be located in Ekwusigo local government area of the state, comes with no financial obligation from the state government, beside the provision of Certificate of Occupancy and access road to the site.
She thanked the community for its willingness in providing the land and assured that government would not request for any money from the investors and called on other investors to take advantage of the state government’s willingness to provide free land to them.
According to the managing director of Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency, ANSIPPA, Joe-Billy Ekwunife, the community is set to benefit from the project by getting five per cent of the investment cost and 35 per cent job opportunities.
The chairman of Ekwusigo Local Government council, Jude Mbaegbu, commended the state government for bringing the project to the state and to his local government. He said the community had for long expressed its readiness to provide free land for infrastructural development and wondered why past governments passed up the opportunity and as a result left the youth unemployed.
