Another Explosion In Kills One

By Iro Dan Fulani

Just about the same time that a suicide bomber struck at the heart of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, there was pandemonium in the commercial border town of Mubi, Adamawa State, following an explosion at the Lumo Kuturu Market.

Eyewitnesses in Mubi South said the explosion occurred when a gas cylinder fell out of a moving vehicle belonging to a new generation bank and that there was a death, but the police said it was a bomb planted by the side of the road targeted at a police patrol vehicle that detonated.

Police public relations officer of the state command, Abubakar Othman, a deputy superintendent of police, said a bomb planted by the side of the road detonated although he said the incident did not result in any casualty.

The development led to a chaotic situation in the town as people scampered for safety in all directions and the market has been closed down temporarily.

Meanwhile, hospital sources from the General Hospital Mubi confirmed that the lone victim died of cardiac arrest following the psychological trauma that he went through.

Kuturu Market is usually flooded with people from all parts of town on Wednesday which happens to be the main market.
