APC presidential primary: Lawan, Onu, Yahaya Bello, Bakare, others fail to step down

THE Senate President, Ahmed Lawan and Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, have shunned the directive of the governors elected on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform in the North that Nigeria’s presidency should return to the South.

On Tuesday, both aspirants addressed delegates at the party’s presidential primary in Abuja and sought their votes.

They insisted they had the required experience to lead the nation and turn its fortunes around.

The APC northern governors had said that power must return to the South since President Buhari, who is from the North, rounds off his eight-year tenure of two terms each on May 29, 2023.

Former ministers, Ogbonnaya Onu (Science and Technology), Rotimi Amaechi (Transportation), Senator Rochas Okorocha, Pastor Tunde Bakare and Tein Jack Rich have also insisted that the party go to the poll to pick its flagbearer.
