At Last, President Jonathan Declares Interest To Contest In 2015

After months of speculations and body movements in the affirmative, President Goodluck Jonathan has said he would contest the 2015 presidential election having been adopted by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as its sole Presidential candidate.

He thanked the party for giving him the first right of refusal to contest the Presidential seat at a private meeting held with the leadership in the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The President said that he would pick his nomination form for the election before the deadline of  October 30, 2014.

Accordingly, a committee to be headed by former defence minister, Bello Halliru Mohammed was set up to come up with modalities for the official declaration which is scheduled between 7th and 15th of November, 2014.

Another fundraising committee for the presidential campaign proper has been instituted. It is to be chaired by former Minister of Information, Jerry Gana.
