According to youth vigilante sources in Maiduguri, 20 people were killed at Yakhari in Damboa local government area when the insurgents attacked the village on Saturday.

Earlier, on Friday night, Boko Haram gunmen had attacked Kachifa village, about four kilometres away from Damboa, where eight persons were reportedly killed.

In the attack on Yakhari, the insurgents rode on motorcycles to remote village where they shot villagers indiscriminately before carting away their foodstuff and cattle.

The attacks on the two villages were apparently to source for food as the insurgents also carted away foodstuff in Kachifa in the midnight raid.
