Buhari Fails To Attend FEC Meeting Again

Despite the news of President Muhammadu Buhari’s improving health, he was again conspicuously absent at Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo again presided over the meeting in the President’s absence.

It is now four consecutive weeks that the President has not presided over the FEC meeting where important decisions about the country are made, though the meeting for the Wednesday after the Easter holidays was called off.

On Tuesday, the President was reported to have been at the office, holding separate meetings with the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, as well as the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Maikanti Baru.

It was also reported early Wednesday that Buhari will preside over the FEC meeting, but that was not to be as the Vice President was the one who led the proceedings.

President Buhari’s absence at key functions has fuelled speculations about his state of health, but the presidency has dismissed reports about Buhari being critically ill.

Wife of the president, Aisha Buhari, on Tuesday spoke about her husband’s health for the first time since he ended his medical vacation, saying that his health condition was not as bad as perceived.

She thanked Nigerians for their support and urged for more prayers for the President.
