Presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, has said that President Muhammadu Buhari, will resume full duties on Monday after he had transmitted a letter to the National Assembly informing it of his return to the country.
Adesina said the letter would make Buhari’s return to the country formal and constitutional.
“PMB will Monday transmit letter to N’ Assembly on his return to the country. That makes his return to work formal, and constitutional,” he wrote on Twitter.
It would be noted that President Buhari had written to the National Assembly before embarking on his London medical trip in mid January.
He also informed the lawmakers when the need arose to extend his stay, all the time notifying them that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo would act as President while he was away.
The President returned from his vacation on Friday after having spent over 50 days of what was initially intended to be a 10-day leave.
He however said he could return to the UK for “routine tests” in the coming weeks.
