Buhari set to arrive today after ‘technical stopover’ in London

Garba Shehu, the president’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, has confirmed on Thursday morning that President Muhammadu Buhari had a stop over in London, following his official visit to Donald Trump, president of the United States.

Buhari had arrived in Washington D.C. on Sunday, met with Trump on Monday, and left the United States on Tuesday.

Bashir Ahmed, one of the president’s media aides, on Monday tweeted to say the president had “departed Joint Base Andrews Airport for Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja”, without any mention of a stop-over.

“They had a technical stopover in London,” Shehu had stated. “I am sure if you keep your ears to the ground, you will hear of his arrival soon.”

Femi Adesina, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, later confirmed on Thursday through his Twitter account that Buhari is set to arrive in Abuja on Thursday evening.

“PMB arrives Abuja this evening. The good work of rebuilding Nigeria continues,” he stated
