Chadian Terrorists Arrested In Gombe

 


Troops of the Nigerian Army in conjunction with operatives of the Department of State Services DSS, has arrested 3 suspected Chadian terrorists that belonged to the Albaranawi faction of Boko Haram.

A statement issued by the Director, Army Public Relations, Sani Usman, late on Sunday indicated that the suspects were arrested, “after painstaking effort of tracking”, in Gombe State.

The suspected terrorists whose names were given as Bilal Muhammed Umar, Bashir Muhammed and Muhammed Maigari Abubakar were arrested at Arawa and Mallam Inna Areas of Gombe metropolis.

“They were reported to be members of Albarnawi faction of the Boko Haram that operates in Chad and mostly northern part of Borno State but came to Gombe State for another heinous assignment,” the statement read.

The army spokesman added that one of the terrorists, Bilal Muhammed Umar, attempted to escape during the operation but was shot on the leg.




     

     

    “He was however apprehended and is receiving medical treatment,” Usman stated.

    Among the items recovered from the arrested suspects were materials used for the preparation of Improvised Explosive Device, IED, which the Army say the terrorists could have assembled and used to attack parts of the State.

    The statement added that “the suspects are in custody undergoing preliminary investigation.”
