Death Toll Rises To 10 In Gombe Bomb Blast

The death toll arising from yesterday’s bomb blast at a busy bus station in Gombe, North East Nigeria, has risen to 10.

The bomb which went off as passengers tried to get on a bus in the ever bustling park had injured about 15 persons many of who are receiving treatment in various medical facilities around the city..

Reports indicate that the blast came from an explosive device left by a woman who was thought to be a passenger.

The bus was loading passengers to Jos, the Plateau state capital.

The blast which was heard across the city sent jitters down the spine of many residents.

Witnesses say the woman had left her bag beside the bus while pretending to make calls. Thereafter she had melted into the crowd and moments later, the bomb went off leaving in its wake five dead victims and 15 injured. Five of the injured people have since also died.

It will be recalled that a similar blast occurred two months ago outside a stadium along Abubakar Habu Hashidu road where the People’s Democratic Party, PDP was holding its campaign rally.
