Founder and emeritus chairman of DAAR Communications, owners of African Independent Television and Ray Power FM, Raymond Dokpesi, was on Monday granted bail by Justice Gabriel Kolawole of a Federal High Court, Abuja.
Dokpesi was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and arraigned on six count charges of money laundering in relation to the N2.1 billion he collected from former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.
According to the judge, Dokpesi must produce two sureties with N200 million each.
One of the sureties should be a serving or retired director in the civil service while the other will be a private investor with a tax clearance for a minimum of the last three years.
In addition to ordering the accused to submit his international passport to the court within the next 24 hours, Justice Kolawole also ruled that he should be remanded in Kuje Prison pending the fulfilment of the bail conditions.
The judge further warned the EFCC that should there be need to question Dokpesi, it must not exceed eight hours a day.
“It should be no more than 10 am to 6 pm, any day,” the judge ordered.
