The Ekiti State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, says Ayodele Fayose, the State Governor owes workers between five and eight months salary arrears.
This is following claims by Fayose during a TV interview in Lagos on Thursday, that Ekiti workers are owed only for four months.
Ade Adesanmi, the Ekiti State Chairman of the NLC, said the Governor was being economical with the truth.
“As we speak, the civil servants are owed five months’ salary arrears, Adesanmi said.
“Local government, eight months’ salaries; and institutions like College of Education, Ikere, College of Heath Technology, Ijero and Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, are owed seven months’ salaries.”
This comes barely two days after Fayose officially announced his intention to run for the 2019 presidential election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, despite the fact that the party had zoned that position to the North.
During the event, Fayose lambasted the Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government for, according to him, setting Nigeria backwards and leaving the people in poverty, anger and frustration.
