The teachers who donned the campaign vest and caps of the APC flagbearer, Biodun Oyebanji, gathered by 10:00 am at the pavilion near the government house, Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
Some of them wore orange colour tee shirts emblazoned with ‘EKSU Teacher Vanguard’, others wore blue and white tee shirts with the inscription ‘Biodun Oyebanji for Governor’, while some others wore face caps written “Ekiti Teachers for BAO”.
The ICIR witnessed how the teachers danced to local music and patiently waited for the NUT official who brought money to the pavilion to share with them.
He came in a white Mercedes Benz with plate number KJA223BF.
Each teacher whose name appeared on the list collected N3000.
The ICIR attempted to speak to two of the teachers to know if they think open partisanship is ethical for civil servants. They declined to comment.
“We are civil servants, we can’t speak about election,” they said.
