The Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, has appealed to Boko Haram insurgents to accept the amnesty offer by the federal government.
A statement issued in Kaduna by the national publicity secretary of the group, Muhammad Ibrahim, said the group must stop further destruction of innocent lives.
“ACF appeals to the Boko Haram members to accept and embrace the amnesty proposal of the Federal Government, and stop the wanton destruction of lives and property of innocent people,” the statement said.
The Forum further called on governments at all levels to show transparency in the execution of the amnesty programme in the interest of peace and reconciliation.
It noted that the insurgents were killing innocent people for no just cause, adding that the group must stop the carnage and embrace peace.
The ACF also condoled with the government and people of Borno State over the murder of the Emir of Gwoza, Idrissa Timta, by the insurgents on Friday and prayed for the repose of his soul.
Timta ascended to the throne as a third class chief in October 1981 and was elevated to first class status in January, 2014.
