The Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, was on Monday named the 9th Chancellor of the University of Benin, UNIBEN, by the management of
the institution.
The Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Faraday Orunmwense, who announced this during a press briefing in Benin, said that the former Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, governor would be formally installed on November 25, 2015.
Orunmwense announced that the institution will also confer honorary degrees on the Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, and Osato Giwa, a Professor of gynaecologist, on November 28.
The Vice Chancellor credited the success of the university to the support of the federal government and the dedication of the management, staff and students of the institution.
The UNIBEN VC said the institution had 11,020 graduants with 64 conferred with First Class degree, while 7,034 persons would graduate with other classes of first degrees on November 26 and 27.
