Dahiru Yunusa, who allegedly abducted 14 years old Ese Oruru, was earlier today granted a N3m bail by Justice H. A. Nganjiwa of the Federal High Court in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.
The accused was also ordered to provide two sureties who must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction and show evidence of tax payment for the last three years. While one of the sureties must be a civil servant not less than Level 12, the other must be a title holder.
Yunusa, the judge ruled, will remain in prison custody until the bail conditions are met.
Yunusa, who also goes by the name Yellow, was charged to court on March 8 for abduction, kidnapping, unlawful carnal knowledge and sexual exploitation. He pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Following the bail ruling, Justice Nganjiwa adjourned the case till April 17 for ruling on the application by the prosecution led by J.O. Anate to obtain Oruru’s testimony in camera.
Counsel to Yunusa, kayoed Olaosebikan commended the judge for granting the accused bail, as the charges against him are bailable.
