Yunusa Dahiru, the man who abducted 14 year old Ee Oruru from her home in Bayelsa State and took her to Kano, has been slammed with a five count charge of kidnapping, illicit sex and having canal knowledge of a minor.
Dahiru, alias Yellow, was arraigned by the police before a Federal High Court sitting in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, where he abducted the girl. He was brought to court in handcuffs.
The young man, who helped the teenager’s mother run errands in her canteen in Yengoa, abducted her and took her to Kano where he first converted her to Islam before marrying her without the consent of her parents.
The sad story of the 14 – year old, who is believed to be five – months pregnant, has elicited criticism among many Nigerians against several state institutions, including the Nigerian Police and the palace of the Emir of Kano.
After eight months, she was finally rescued by the police from Dahiru and reunited with her family last week.
