FCT Adopts Strict Measures To Tackle Terrorism

The minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Bala Mohammed, has directed all hotels operating in the city to daily furnish the Department of State Services, DSS, and Police with a list of all their guests, against the backdrop of recent terrorist attacks in Abuja.
 
The directive was contained in a statement by the special assistant on Media to the minister Nosike Ogbuenyi, on Tuesday.
 
Mohammed also mandated all the hotels to install individual security cameras within their vicinity and ensure thorough check of all vehicles entering their premises.

The minister in the same vein directive directed all residents and residents’s associations in various parts of the territory to embark on “operation know your neighbor” campaign, adding that the measure was to ensure that all criminally minded elements were detected easily within the FCT.
 
“The security department of FCTA is to liaise with the various security agencies in the FCT on the modalities for implementing the ministerial directive,” the statement added.
 
In furtherance of the campaign, the minister also directed all traditional rulers in the FCT to urgently commence periodic meetings with various communities within their domains to take stock of strange faces living with them, as well as report all new comers within 48 hours to the Police and DSS.
