Bukola-Saraki-Ike-Ekweremadu

Nigerian Senate President, Bukola Saraki and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu have been scheduled to appear before an FCT High Court on Tuesday on a two-count charge of forgery and criminal conspiracy.

The Senate principal officers were charged along with Salisu Maikasua, former clerk of the National Assembly and his former deputy, Benedict Efeturi.

They were charged on the June 10 for alleged forgery of the Senate standing rules which was used for the election of the presiding officers in the senate in June last year.

It would be recalled that Saraki is also facing trial at the Code of Conduct tribunal for alleged false asset declaration during his time as Governor of Kwara state.

He is also accused of receiving Governor’s salary and emoluments even after his tenure as governor had elapsed.

The tribunal, which is located in the Jabi area of the FCT, had on June 15 adjourned the trial to Tuesday, June 21, same day as the commencement of the forgery trial at the high court which also shares the same boundary as the high court premises.
