Fire guts Anambra police station

TWO days after fire consumed election materials in Anambra INEC office, another fire outbreak has affected a police station in Ajali, Orumba North Local Government Area of the state.

According to reports, the gangsters who were involved in the incidence also allowed suspects in the police custody to escape after beating up the police officers on duty.

In a statement, Haruna Mohammed, Anambra State police public relations officer, said that investigation would be carried out to find out if the fire was an accident or staged.

“It’s a case of fire incident for now until the contrary is proved through discreet investigation,” he said.

The damage caused by the fire was bad enough to have almost razed down the entire police building and two police vans.

A thorough investigation will commence immediately as Mustapha Dandaura, the commissioner of Police has inspected the burnt police premises and ordered the Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department to carry out a diligent investigation.

The Commissioner ordered the investigation to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident, Mohammed said.
