The 82 Chibok girls that were released by the Boko Haram terrorist group on Saturday have arrived Abuja.
Special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, disclosed this on his twitter handle on Sunday.
Adesina said the girls were received by the chief of staff to President Buhari, Abba Kari at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
“82 Chibok girls now in Abuja. Received on behalf of the President at the airport by Chief of Staff, Alhaji Abba Kyari. Congrats Nigeria,” the presidential spokesman wrote.
Reports say the girls will meet with President Buhari by 4 pm.
Senior Presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, had earlier in a statement said that the federal government released some Boko Haram suspects in its custody as part of the negotiations that led to the rescue of the girls.
