THE federal government has announced Tuesday, October 1, 2024, as a public holiday in commemoration of the nation’s 64th Independence Day.
The minister of interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made this announcement on Saturday, September 28 2024 through a statement released by the ministry’s permanent secretary, Magdalene Ajani.
Tunji-Ojo extended his congratulations to Nigerians both within the country and abroad on this occasion, while commending the perseverance and hard work of Nigerian men and women while assuring that their efforts and sacrifices would not be in vain.
He emphasised the importance of Nigerians reflecting on the efforts of our past heroes and drawing inspiration for the challenges ahead, reminding everyone that the Nigeria we aspire to can only be achieved through unity.
“Aligning himself with the theme for the Anniversary, the minister reiterated the need for Nigerians to reflect on the labour of our heroes past and be inspired for the tasks ahead, realizing that a Nigeria of our dream can only be built when we unite.” Part of the statement read.
As he wished Nigerians a happy independence Day, Tunji-Ojo encouraged citizens to remain committed to the task of nation-building.
