President Goodluck Jonathan has appointed a former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ahmadu Ali, as the director general of his campaign organisation, ahead of the presidential election slated for February 14.
A former education minister, Tunde Adeniran will act as the deputy director general of the presidential campaign team.
Announcing the appointment in a press release in Abuja Thursday, the political adviser to the President, Rufai Alkali, said that a former chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, BoT, Tony Anenih, will act as campaign adviser to the Jonathan’s campaign team.
Others in the campaign team include former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, who will serve as the deputy director general, south, while special duties minister Kabiru Turaki, is deputy director general, north.
While former minister of information, Jerry Gana, will head the contact and mobilisation unit of the campaign, former minister of aviation, Femi Fani – Kayode will serve as the director of media and publicity.
Alkali said in the statement that President Jonathan will inaugurate the campaign team next Monday at the PDP presidential campaign office in Maitama, Abuja
