Monica Osagie, alleged victim of sex-for-mark, is currently appearing before the committee set up by the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, to investigate the allegations of misconduct against Prof. Richard Akindele, Punch Nigeria reports.
The committee is sitting at the Pro-Chancellor’s Lodge on the campus but only Osagie and her lawyer were allowed into the venue which is manned by the university’s security personnel.
Journalists and some members of the National Human Rights Commission were prevented from attending the sitting.
Prof. Eyitope Ogunbodede, the Vice Chancellor, confirmed to a Punch correspondent in a phone conversation that Osagie is appearing before the committee.
“The lady is appearing before the committee. Members of the committee told me that the lady came and she is appearing before them,” he said.
The university had suspended Akindele following the recommendation of the committee in their interim report.
The committee said Osagie failed to honour their invitation, but she had denied, on Thursday, ever being invited to its sitting.
