Kidnapped CBN Governor’s Wife Regains Freedom

Margaret Emefiele, Wife of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Governor, Godwin Emefiele, who was reportedly kidnapped on Thursday, has been released by her abductors.




     

     

    Family sources said she was rescued “due to the gallantry of the Armed Forces, Police and Security Forces”, in Ugoneki near Benin City and is currently recuperating in Government House, Asaba.

    Confirming the release, in a statement on Saturday, the CBN governor expressed gratitude to God and President Muhammadu Buhari for her release, vowing that he would continue to serve the country “without any fear of intimidation”.

    Emefiele praised security agencies for their “gallantry” in bringing his back home within 24 hours in compliance with the directive of the president.

    He also expressed his gratitude to the Delta and Edo state governments, friends and well-wishers whose prayers and goodwill, helped to bring this harrowing experience to a joyful end.
