Kuje Prison attack: NCoS releases names, pictures of 69 fleeing terrorists

THE Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) on Friday released the names and pictures of some of the inmates that escaped from Kuje Prison during an invasion by gunmen suspected to be members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

About 879 inmates reportedly escaped from the Kuje Prison when the terrorists attacked the facility on Tuesday night.

The NCoS, in a statement released on Wednesday, said it recaptured 443 escapees, while another 443 are still at large.

The Service said it will deploy its Corrections Information Management System in synergy with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to track fleeing inmates and return them to custody.

In a public notice released on Friday, the NCoS declared 69 inmates with terrorism-related cases wanted.

The NCoS asked the public to provide useful information which may lead to their recapture.

The notice also contained the photographs, names and other relevant details about the 69 fleeing inmates.

“The following are faces and names of Inmates with BOKO HARAM/TERRORISM CASES who escaped from Kuje Correctional Centre during the jail attack on 5th July, 2022.




     

     

    “If you see any of these people, or have useful information, which may lead to their recapture, Please Call 07000099999, 09060004598 or 08075050006 or Any Law Enforcement Agency nearest to you.

    “We guarantee to keep your information anonymous,” the notice read.

    The NCoS posted the details on its website
