The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Kwara State has challenged the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC in the state to publicly disclose the sources of funds it had been using to finance the party since its registration.
PDP publicity secretary in the state, Rex Olawoye, threw the challenge in a statement issued on Tuesday in reaction to a statement credited to his counterpart in the APC, Sulyman Buhari, accusing it of organising a fund raising event in Abuja.
“We challenge the APC to tell the world the source(s) of the money it has been using to prosecute party activities over the past few months,” Olawoye said.
He also challenged the APC to disclose the source of the money it used to pay for the multi-million naira mansion on Peter Tokulola Street in Ilorin which the party recently acquired as secretariat.
He said the APC whose activities he alleged were being sponsored and funded from public funds had no right to criticise the PDP for raising funds for its campaign.
Olawoye said the PDP raised funds from well-to-do members of the party and public spirited members of the society.
