From Jefferson Ibiwale, Benin

A supposed madman has been arrested in Benin, Edo State, for killing several persons and cutting off their vital parts for the purpose of selling same to ritualists.

The man whose name is yet to be determined, was arrested at the Upper Sokponba Road area of Benin with a cut to size gun, different human parts and N4 million cash.

It was gathered that the man had live in a make-shift apartment for close to two years, pretending to be a madman, but was indeed responsible for the several mysterious deaths in the area.

According to one of the landlords in the area simply identified as Pa Onaiwu, who spoke to journalists, the suspected ritual killer was in the habit of behaving funny especially when it is getting dark.

“This man some time behave funny. In the afternoon, you see him bathing naked, behaving like real madman. What really disturbed us is the constant dead bodies you find around almost the same area. The most serious issues is that if these dead body is that of a woman, the head, the breast and the private part would have been removed. Same applicable to a man,” he said.

He said the last person that died around the area was a woman whose head, breast and private part were cut off.

When contacted on phone, the Edo State police commissioner, Foluso Adebanjo, said he was aware of the rumour but was yet to be briefed on the matter.
