THERE has been a major rejig at the Nigerian Army Headquarters as several senior officers are redeployed from one area of responsibility to the other. As a result, Sagir Musa, a colonel, has been announced as the acting director of army public relations.
Sagir replaces Sani Kukasheka Usman, who announced his voluntary retirement from the service last week. Usman explained that he was retiring on health grounds.
Before his new appointment, Musa had served as the spokesperson of the 82 division of the Nigeria Army.
Other officers affected by the redeployment as announced through a statement issued by Aliyu Yusuf on behalf of the army directorate of information were:
Brigadier General N.J. Okah who has been posted from Nigerian Army Institute of Technology and Environmental Studies (NAITES) to Army Headquarters Department of Army Logistics and appointed Acting Director of Engineering Services; Brigadier General M.A. Masanawa from Army Headquarters, Department of Army Policy and Plans, to ACADA and appointed Commander; while Brigadier General H.T. Wesley posted from Headquarters Nigerian Army Ordinance Corps, to Army Headquarters Department of Army Logistics and appointed Director Clothing and Store; erstwhile Brigadier General H.G. Tafida of the Nigerian Army Central Workshop Rigachukwu posted to Army Headquarters Department of Army Logistics and appointed Director Engineering and Maintenance.
Others include Brigadier General B.A. Ilori who has been posted to Army Headquarters Department of Army Policy and Plans and appointed Deputy Director Equipment Procurement; Brigadier General A.A. Adereti, posted to National Defence College and appointed Directing Staff; while Colonel O Nwachukwu from Headquarters Theatre Command Operation Lafiya Dole has been posted to Defence Headquarters and appointed Acting Director Defence Information.
“Similarly, Colonel S. Musa has been posted to Directorate of Army Public Relations and appointed Acting Director Army Public Relations Nigerian Army; while Colonel A.A. Yusuf has been appointed Deputy Director Public Relations 82 Division Nigerian Army. Colonel A.D. Isa is posted to Theatre Command Operation Lafiya Dole and appointed Deputy Director Army Public Relations; while the new Acting Corps Commander Nigerian Army Medical Corps is Colonel S. Adama.”
Also, O.G. Olaniyi was posted from the Nigerian Army School of Music to Nigerian Army Band Corps and appointed Acting Director, Army Band; E.I. Okoro and I.P. Bindul were posted to Army War College as directing staff.
