From Jefferson Ibiwale, Benin
The death of 25-year-old Osamame Isekhuere (alias Black Arrow), who was shot dead by his friend in Benin, Edo State, sparked a riot in the state on Saturday.
It was gathered that Isekhuere met his untimely death while testing the efficacy of some newly acquired charms, also known as ‘Africa Insurance,’ against bullets.
The deceased and his friend had acquired the charm for reasons that are unclear at the moment and were too eager to verify its authenticity.
Taking turns, Isekhuere had allegedy taken a gun loaded with live bullets and fired shots at his friend. seeing that nothing had happened to him, the young man requested the friend to take a shot at him
It was learnt that the bullet, however, tore through his body and he died as a result.
The event caused chaos and riots among youths at the Oba Market where the shooting occurred, forcing many traders to hurriedly lock up their stores.
Isekhuere’s angry friends burnt down a rented apartment where he lived.
When contacted, Edo State police command spokesman, Uwoh Noble, a deputy superintendent, said he was yet to be briefed on the matter.
