THE Fall 2026 edition of the McGraw Fellowship for Business Journalism is now open for applications.
The Harold W. McGraw, Jr. Center for Business Journalism provides experienced journalists with grants of up to $15,000, alongside editorial support, to produce deeply reported enterprise and investigative stories with a strong economic, financial or business angle.
The fellowship is open to freelance and staff journalists across all media formats. Applicants do not need to be business reporters, and journalists who combine different formats to create multimedia packages are encouraged to apply.
To be eligible, applicants must have at least five years of professional journalism experience.
The fellowship provides financial and editorial support to journalists who need the time and resources to develop significant investigative or enterprise stories that offer fresh insights into important business, financial or economic issues.
It accepts proposals for in-depth text, audio and short-form video stories. However, long-form documentaries are not eligible for support. The fellowship is not a residency programme, and selected fellows will work from their own offices.
Applicants must submit a focused story proposal of no more than three pages through the online application form. The proposal should demonstrate that the story is well-researched and feasible, highlighting: what is new and significant about the proposed story; why the story matters and its potential impact; how it differs from previous reporting on the subject; and a proposed reporting plan and timeline for completion.
Applicants are not required to have a media outlet lined up before applying, but those who already have one should include the information in their proposals.
Application deadline is October 12, 2026. Interested journalists can apply here.
