New CBN Gov, Godwin Emefiele, Resumes Duties

The new governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Emefiele, Tuesday formally assumed duties as the tenth indigenous head of the apex bank.




     

     

    A statement from the bank said Emefiele at the brief formal handing over ceremony at the CBN headquarters in Abuja, thanked deputy governors, especially Sarah Alade, who held forth in acting capacity since the former bank governor, Sanusi, Lamido Sanusi, was suspended.

    The new bank governor who is the immediate past group managing director of Zenith Bank Nigeria Plc, is expected to hold a maiden press conference on Thursday, June 5, 2014, where he will unveil his agenda for the bank.

    He brings along to his new role over 20 years of banking management experience.

    Emefiele was cleared by the Senate on Wednesday, March 26, 2014.
