Imo State government on Friday, announced that it had trimmed the number of ministries in the state from 22 to 13.

Governor Rochas Okorocha disclosed this after a meeting with all the permanent secretaries at the Government House in Owerri, the state capital.

Okorocha, who spoke through the state’s Head of Service, Calistus Ekenze, said that the decision was part of restructuring plans to boost the efficient and effective running of the state’s civil service.

He also explained that this became necessary considering the dwindling revenue allocation to the state government.

He further added that upon cutting down on cost of governance, it will help looking inwards in order to increase the Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, of the state.
