NATIONAL Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has subtly called out former President Olusegun Obasanjo describing him as an “old master thief”.

“It is only in Nigeria that old thieves will be regrouping, they are being organised by an old master thief who spent 16 billion, the more dollars he spent on light, the more darkness we suffered,” Oshiomhole said.

“He has come back, he wants to rule through proxy. He took one proxy before, not too far away from here, that one couldn’t do him well, he carry him card dey tear am the way tailor dey tear old cloth.

“He tear am finish he wan come back, Buhari said ‘no, remain on your farm, grow more chicken. After all when you came before you launched operation feed the nation, now go and feed your chicken.

“Look at those who have made pilgrimage to Ota, they are thieves of yesterday, the thieves of today and those who are going to be thieves tomorrow.”

In May 2018, President made reference to the issue when he received members of his support organisation for the 2019 general election.

“A former president was bragging that he spent more than 16billion US dollars, not naira o, on power. Where is the power? And now we have to pay the debt,” Buhari said.

Describing the PDP as a party of “armed robbers”, Oshiomhole said Nigerians should be careful in order not to be deceived.

Oshiomhole described Akpabio as a nationalist whose love for the growth and development of Nigeria overshadows every other partisan consideration.

All the speakers at the event poured encomiums on Akpabio, describing him as a man of integrity who has the best intentions for his people, same who governed Akwa Ibom State for eight years as a member of the PDP.

He has been indicted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of several cases of financial impropriety during his time as Governor of Akwa Ibom state, even though no formal charge has been filed against him in court.

Speaking at the event, Aka Ibom boasted that the EFCC found nothing against him hence their inability to file charges against him.

He maintained that his decision to dump the PDP was because of his greater interest in the betterment of Nigeria, and not because he was running from prosecution as is being speculated in various quarters.

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo did not attend the Akpabio reception event as earlier reported, but he was represented by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha.
