Osun guber poll: Elderly voters dominate polling units

THE governorship election in Osun State recorded a large turnout of elderly voters.

The ICIR observed that elderly people constituted a larger number of voters at polling units visited in Ilesa East and Ilesa West local government areas.

At Polling Unit 002, Ward 06, Ilesa West, many elderly people were seen in the queue waiting to cast their votes.

Also at PU 11, Ward 4, Omo Ofe in Ilesa West, elderly persons dominated the queue.

At PU 001, Ward 8, Ifofin, Ilesa East, a large number of old women were seen waiting to vote.

In most of the polling units, the elderly people were given priority and offered seats as they waited for their turn.

Speaking to The ICIR, an elderly woman, Victoria Asewa, said she had not missed voting in a long while.

According to Asewa, voting in elections is her right.
