Peter Obi wins in Edo, Cross River, Enugu

THE Labour Party (LP) candidate Peter Obi has been declared winner of the Presidential Election in Edo, Cross River and Enugu after results from the three states were announced.

In Edo, Obi polled a total of 331,163 across the 18 local government areas of the state to edge candidate of the All Progressive Congress (A)C) Bola Tinubu, who scored 144,471, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s state collation officer Prof. Nyaudoh Ndaeyo.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Atiku Abubakar, had 89,585, while Rabiu Kwakwanso of the NNPP scored 2,743.

Ndaeyo disclosed that LP won the presidential election in 12 local government areas – Igueben, Esan Central, Esan North-East, Egor, Esan South-East, Esan West, Uhunmwonde, Orhionmwon, Ovia South-West, Oredo, Ikpoba-Okha and Ovia North-East, while APC won in six LGAs of Owan West, Owan East, Akoko-Edo, Etsako Central, Etsako West and Etsako East.

Of the 2,501,081 registered voters, 603 894 were accredited on election day. 

According to INEC, the total valid votes were 581,266, while 19,129 votes were rejected out of a total 600,395 votes cast 

Similarly, the LP’s Peter Obi defeated candidates of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu and Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar in Saturday’s Presidential Election in Cross River State.

The State Collation Officer, Prof Akpofure Rim-Rukeh, announced the result at the Independent National Electoral Commission state headquarters in Calabar early on Tuesday morning.

Peter Obi secured 179,917 votes to defeat the closest rival Tinubu who scored 130,520.

Atiku had 95,425 votes.

In Enugu State, Peter Obi won with a wide margin after securing  88.7 per cent of the total votes cast in the state.

The LP candidate got 428,640 votes while his closest challenger Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) scored 15,749 votes.

Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress scored 4,772 votes.
