In yet another tragedy on Wednesday, this time in Edo State, unknown gunmen clad in military uniforms shot and killed two policemen and two civilians at Ikirun-Oke, near Ibilo.

The state commissioner for police, Foluso Adebanjo, said three policemen, including an Inspector, were also injured during the shooting and are currently receiving medical attention at an undisclosed hospital.

Adebanjo said that the policemen were travelling from Abuja to Lagos in an 18-seater police bus marked NPF 3148 C when they were flagged down by the gunmen who suddenly opened fire on them, killing two of the policemen and injuring three.

He did not say whether the two civilians who lost their lives were travelling with the policemen but added that the remains of the policemen and the civilians have been deposited the Anyakur Specialist Hospital in Ibilo.
