President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday confirmed the appointment of Suleiman Abba as the substantive Inspector General of Police, IGP.
His appointment was confirmed at the Police Council meeting held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The 55 years old police boss was appointed the acting IGP on July 31, shortly after his predecessor, Mohammed Abubakar, retired from the Nigerian Police.

The History and Law graduate was also Aide-De-Camp, ADC, to the wife of a former Head of State, Maryam Abacha.
Abba joined the Nigerian police as a cadet inspector on December 31, 1984 and is due for retirement on March 22, 2019.
He was promoted acting AIG on February 22, 2012.
