An Evboriaria Magistrate Court in Benin, has convicted and sentenced one Michael Henry Aimufia, to two years imprisonment for raping a nursing mother.
The prosecuting counsel, Rosemary Igbinakenzua, told the court that the convict accosted his victim who was returning home after taking her child to school, hit her on the head and dragged her into a nearby bush at Agowieyan village along Sapele Road, Benin, where he raped her.
However, just as Aimufia staggered out of the corner into a road, he was knocked down by a vehicle which left him unconscious.
Concernedly, the driver of the car hurried out to take him to a nearby hospital when he heard a farmiliar voice screaming for help in the bush and as he traced the voice, it turned out to be that of his wife, whom the unconscious man had just raped.
Upon identifying the rapist as the man lying unconscious on the ground, the couple brought in the police who arrested Aimufia after he was resuscitated.
When the charge was read to him. Aimufia pleaded guilty to the crime.
Chief Magistrate Hassana Garuba held that the prosecuting counsel made a prima facie case against Aimufia and sentenced him to two years jail term without an option of fine.
