A three-storeyed building has collapsed in Lagos Island, Lagos State leaving several people feared dead, injured and others trapped.
The building which is located on Ita Faji Street, near Adeniji Adele Street in Victoria Island, also holds a primary school called Baden School said to be located on the top floor of the building with pupils feared killed and others trapped.
When it collapsed around 10:00 am on Wednesday, early responders at the scene said up to 100 persons were in the building.
The cause of the collapse is yet to be ascertained.
Security operatives, emergency workers, some Lagos State government officials and many concerned citizens are currently trying to rescue persons trapped under the rubble, with ambulances at the scene to whisk the injured to hospitals.
The ICIR placed calls to the spokesperson for the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Kehinde Adebayo, to verify the number of casualties involved in the incidence.
However, the calls were unanswered at the time of filing this report.
