The Shehu of Borno, Abubakar El-Kanemi, on Wednesday announced a three-day fasting programme for all Muslims in Borno State to seek divine intervention in view of the unending violence being perpetrated by Boko Haram terrorists in the state.
El-Kanemi equally called on Christians in the state to support the spiritual initiative with prayers for the return of peace to Borno state.
According to a press statement by the secretary of Borno Emirate Council, Zanna Laisu Kazalma, the Shehu who is also chairman of the Borno State Traditional Rulers Association, said special prayers should be offered in all mosques and recitation of Khalimat Shahada ‘La Ilaha Illallah’ should be done continuously during the fasting period.
The monarch also urged that each and every Muslim individually and collectively offer Sadaqat to the needy and unprivileged especially to those internally displaced persons in various camps.
The fasting programme will commence on Thursday and end on Saturday.
