A soldier was on Monday killed when troops of 153 Task Force Brigade and 5 Brigade continued their clearance of Boko Haram terrorists from their hideouts, the army has announced.
In a statement issued by army spokesperson, Sani Usman, the incident happened at Musari village when the soldiers engaged the insurgents, killing 58 and recovering several items, including two hand grenades, 52 motorcycles, several bags of foodstuffs such as beans, onions, sweet potatoes and guinea corn, as well as cartons of fish.
In a similar vein, troops from 29 Task Force Brigade have in the last two days raided Abukarti, Baradili, Borgozo, Gaijaribul Abukar, kolomi, Marguba, Umarumi and Yasori 1 and 2.
“The gallant troops also recovered several items including 1 single barrel gun, motorcycles, drums and bags of millet and dead cattle that ran into Improvised Explosive Device (IED) buried by the Boko Haram terrorists,” Usman said, adding that before the clear out, the insurgents regularly used Borgozo, as base from which they carried out their activities.
The troops, it was learnt, also successfully detonated an improvised explosive device, IED, in one of the buildings at Yasori 1.
