Ovi Omo-Agege, a senator from Delta State who is currently on suspension, on Wednesday led some thugs to seize the mace at the upper chamber.
On 90-legislative-day suspension for daring to say the Electoral Act amendment by the Senate was targeted at President Muhammadu Buhari, the Delta Central senator should ordinarily be unable to gain access to the Senate.
However, he and his men managed to breach the National Assembly security and make away with the brace, sparking confusion in the premises.
Following the development, there was tension as senators went into a closed-door session.
Since the Senate sits for 180 or 181 days in a calendar year, Omo-Agege’s 90-legislative-day suspension translates to six months of shutout from the legislature.
