A non-governmental organization, Devatop Centre for Africa Development,has carried out an advocacy training exercise for 102 persons drawn from various sectors of the country on the need to end Female Genital Mutilation, FGM.
The United Nations Children Fund, UNICEF says Nigeria has the highest absolute number of female genital mutilation, as about 20 million women and girls in Nigeria have undergone female genital mutilation.
The anti-human trafficking ambassadors include, actor and legal practitioner Kenneth Okonkwo, football star John Fashanu, journalist and author, Chido Onumah, popular media personality, Rachel Bakam, and anti-sex trafficking advocate, Esther Ekanem.
An anti-human trafficking group, Devatop Centre For Human Development has again called on the Nigerian government and people to do more to ensure that the menace of human trafficking in the country was brought to an end.
The menace of human trafficking has continued to linger in Nigeria with the 2016 global slavery index revealing that about 27 million people have been trafficked overtime across the globe, and in Nigeria alone, 875,500 people have fallen victim to human traffickers over the years.
