The Borno State Government has raised alarm over the increasing rate of drug abuse among the citizens of the state, especially in the Internally Displaced Persons, IDP, camps, as well as in communities liberated from Boko Haram control.

The Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, in Kano, Hamza Umar , has said that over 50 Almajiris are currently in his custody for aiding and abating drug peddling in the state, just as he disclosed that the Command has arrested 200 girls who indulged in drug activities.
